has anyone ever tried a drip bag?
do they work? and do deer actually use them?
please give serious answeres because i want to know if it really works befor i buy oneDoes any one know if this works?
It can but there is no guarantee of course. You have many things to consider when you use it. Where you hunt..topography..deep woods, near a draw, out on the plains..depending on the temp if it's warm the thermals will carry the scent up and may not be of much use..if it's cool out the thermal wouldn't be a factor the scent should stay close to the ground where the deer can pick it up. Having said that if it's too cool out (not warming the drip bag) the thing won't work. It needs enough warmth to make the scent in the drip bag flow. Anyway a light wind will help enormously to spread the scent to a larger area. If you are near a draw and it's in the high 50's (with no wind..lol...yea right) the scent will naturally seep down into the draw... if it's to warm 70 or so it won't. Wind is a major factor. if your going to use one sit crosswind from it (be sure not to sit right near it) within a comfortable distance where you would have chances at good clean shots. Please notice this is plural. Deer will be extremely alert when responding to a scent. You need to spot them first and pick your best shot. There's more but you need to figure those out on your own....lol...
Good LuckDoes any one know if this works?
I never bought one but i use pantyhose stuffed full with a towel. Soak that in watered down molasses or some other scent attractant. Once it is saturated place it in a burlap bag and it will slowly drip for about 4 hours. Once it is done dripping you can take it out of the burlap bag and tie the towel to a tree branch and you will have a scent marker on steroids! It only works well in the warmer hunting times like bow season. During Rifle Season, the molasses is to thick due to the colder weather. I personally have not purchased a drip bag but I dont see why they wouldnt work. They I'm sure would work better than my contraption. If so, let me know.
Good luck and good shootin`
I'd use a drip bag early season or during the rut, I'm not sure if it would work very good during mid season. But it's not going to run them off, if it's legal to use in your state (in Alabama it is) I would put it out but I wouldn't hunt right on top of it. Maybe get down wind, or down a trail from it.
As with most lures it depends on the deer in your area and time of year. They are like other scents and do help when used correctly and not over used.
I'm not sure but most likely. You should try some c'mere deer or some acorn rage. That stuff works good
