IF the label on this anti-freeze says that it works with ';all coolant colors'; does it really mean that?

I'n my old car my dad mixed two different types of anti-freeze and it got like jelly. I don't want that to happen again.

But my car really needs some new anti-freeze.

So is it ok to just put in some of the stuff that says ';all colors'; just till I can get it to a mechanic?

There's mostly water in there right now anyway, but there's still a some of the old anti-freeze mixed in. IF the label on this anti-freeze says that it works with ';all coolant colors'; does it really mean that?
Gail, Wish you'd have listed the year make and model of your car. We could have advised you which type (formulation) of antifreeze uour car should have. You're absolutely correct, there are at least a half dozen different, completely separate antifreeze formulations. In your glove compartment you'll find your hand book. In the specifications page it'll tell you which formula you should have. If the book is missing call a dealership of your car parts counter. They'll help you out with which type, and furmulation your buggie should have.

If you've ever noticed the fairly new Prestone Antifreeze on TV where a guy picks up a bottle of brand X antifreexe and an IDIOT ';actor'; who doesn't know squat, tells him that Prestone will go in any car. That statement is pure unadulterated BS. Stupid adds like that get unknowing people in a heap of hurt!

Hate to tell you this but a simple cooling system drain and flush isn't going to ';cut the mustard.'; You should have someone drain, flush and run a couple bottles of Prestone Super Radiator Cleaner through a minimum of 200 miles of driving to get the crap out of the water jackets and radiator. It should be flushed to get the cleaner out and *then and only then should you have the correct formulation of 100% antifreeze added to 1/2 the cooling system's capacity. The remainder should have distilled water.

The first answer you received at the top of the list is flat incorrect! Most Chryslers - Zerex G-05. General Motors - Dex Cool. Toyota's have two types, - Pink and Red. Ford has their own formulation for newer cars, and they used Dex Cool for a few years.

15 years ago regular Prestone green was used in everything because thats all their was avalable. Don't let Danica Patrick sell you Peak universal antifreeze for all cars either cause it just ain't so!IF the label on this anti-freeze says that it works with ';all coolant colors'; does it really mean that?
Get a mechanic to do a coolant change, he/she should put antifreeze in as a rule. If your coolant is at the correct level and is mainly water then obviously putting anti-freeze in will over fill the system.

yes that is true. But if you are going to go get the coolant the easiest thing to get is 50/50 mixture, because it already has the water mixed into it. If you buy non 50-50 then make sure you do a half half water coolant mixture
Yes it is okay, but don't buy the 50/50, you are paying for half water. Buy the straight stuff and then figure out how much you need by what it says on the label.
the all colours coolant means that most makes use diffent colour coolant like one for ford dodge chevy ect. so its just saying that it will mix with any type
Yes it is safe. The new antifreeze is universal and will safely mix with all types.
