How come the Republican attack strategy is not working this time?

Why are people so turned off when in 2000 and 2004 they used it successfully against Gore and Kerry.

Unlike Gore and Kerry who both assumed people would see right through the lies, Obama is fighting back with the truth.How come the Republican attack strategy is not working this time?
The Republican attack strategy in the last two elections was to keep up a constatnt attack and just make up what ever material they needed as they went along. This time around McCain, to his credit, has tried to stick to just the facts and Obama has been far more successful at fund raising that McCain and he has been outspending him about 3 to one.
it would appear that some mountains are just too steep to climb.


and some baggage is just too heavy to carry.





there are just too many republicans (both radical and more centrist) that worry:


-- what happens if McCain reverts back to his pre-2008 self?


-- what happens if he's gone and Palin gets into the oval office? (will she send the cia to get her ex-brother-in-law?)





i also think Gen. Stiggo has it right. he's not letting the swift-boat-liars go unchallenged. that, plus the ballot cheating, is what worked in 2000 and 2004. Obama realized from the beginning, he'd have to deal with it. seems that the American public can't, left to it's own devices, as we've seen from the ';Harrold, call me'; adds in tennessee a couple years ago.
Obama is fighting back and has the money and backing . . . and intelligence . . . to do so. But don't get complacent and count McCain out -- the right wingers who dominate in many places . . . including the area I live in . . . will be out there voting in force Nov. 4.


Do Not get complacent. According to the latest polls, Obama is ahead by 6 points. Trust me, that's not enough to win!
Because this time it has been so transparently racist that it has turned millions off. They overplayed their hand. They were too obviously klannish, too offensively prejudiced...and thought the lowest common denominator was much lower than it turned out to be!!





The Cons decided that they knew the American people. They thought the US was a country filled with haters. Fear-filled, narrow minded morons who would accept whatever they said of a black man who had the temerity to put himself so far forward. To be so uppity as to think he was good enough to lead us.





Well they were WRONG!! The American people have shown that they are far better than the swill that has ruled them for so long. They showed that despite generations of a sub-standard education system we are still capable of thinking for ourselves. That despite a saturation bombing campaign of racist propaganda we are still able to discern the truth We showed them that despite 8 years of being surrounded by Neocon bullsh**t we can still smell it!!





I am so proud of the American people right now, that it almost brings tears to my eyes!!





We are better than the criminals who sought to destroy the world for God and profit. We have seen their neglect, their disregard, their criminality, their incompetence, their dishonesty and their hubris....and called it what it is. Treason!!





Americans have turned away from the politics of division in droves. We will not allow prejudice and fear to stop us doing what is best for our nation and for the world!! We will not believe their lies any longer!





They are going to lose so BAD!!!





My son and daughter don't know what life without the threat of world war is.





And now they will.

Because the liberal media is not running it. It is not Obama so they downplay the Republican side.
People are hurting this time. Its easy to be concerned about silly attacks when your financially secure. Its quite another when you're concerned about whether you will keep your job or not.
Maybe, by this time the general public has finally seen thru their tricks. It's about time.
I think their attacks are transparent and quite frankly, people are sick of fear tactics.
America is waking up.
