I had an epiphany about this earlier in the week. Bush simply never had a grasp on what exactly our government's role is, he has had no appreciation or understanding of the underlying meaning of our democracy, nor any respect for our history, our military...never had that lump in his throat hearing the national anthem, just didn't get it and does not get it now. Topping that off, he had less than an average US citizen's appreciation for world history and cultures and religions and the complex relationships of even our closest allies. What the *#@! did we think was going to happen.
The above is my preferred understanding to a worse alternative: he knows what he is doing. Why does Bush not realize that he works for the people of this country?
Republicans are like that. They work for the rich, the middle class pays and the poor suffer. If Republicans had their way there would be no taxes on corporations and lower taxes on the rich and more rich tax loopholes
This is not a democracy in the sense that what the majority wants the majority gets. If that were true there would be a lot less tolerance of the minorities.
Suppose a child wants a candy bar in the grocery store. His mother says no, so he whines, complains and throws a tantrum for it. Should he get it? It's the parent's responsibility to provide for the child. From the parent's point of view, they don't want to cave into every demand, waste money, or spoil there child. From the child's point of it, it wants candy because it likes candy. Who knows better?
he works for himself
Because most of us are wimps when it comes to holding up our part
No member of this administration even remotely believes they're there to serve the will of the people.
A majority of the people of this country also thought Lincoln should not have fought the civil war after the nother suffered defeat after defeat in 1861 - 1862 and a draft was instituted.
He does realize that he works for the people, he just doesn't care. Since he cannot run again, he could care less about his popularity, re-election or whatever.
So he just does as he damn well pleases.
the people of the country aren't educated or have the knowledge to make military decions for national security . Also we don;t have the cia intelligence or the reportts from officers in the fields . To be honest there are very few people that can make an educated decision on the war , as americans we have to trust the people we put in charge to make the decisions we are not capable of making
who told you that he works for us?...lol... he works for the corporations and super wealthy that put him there....not us....
we have to stop supporting the ruling elite.... and elect a man/woman of the middle class.....
I can assure you that George Bush is PAINFULLY AWARE of the fact that he represents the people of America.
He also is aware of the fact that his job is to protect us and keep us safe and secure in spite of our desire to self-destruct.
It is his job to be the ';parent'; and say NO when it is appropriate.
What I don't understand is: Why doesn't he secure our borders?
Terrorists cross them and all anyone can see is illegal immigration.
The REAL ISSUES are what a President needs to recognize, not the superficial appearances presented to us through misdirected mass media campaigns.
If he does that, he is a good President.
Perhaps he realized that does he work for the retarded liberals but works for the people that voted him into office, TWICE!
Well said, pity we can't fire his a*s. Well we could but the Congress does not have the stomach for it
The only way that would happen is if we the people express a desire to fire his a*s and actuall mean it.
If I ran a company the way he has run this country, I would have been on the unemployment line a long time ago.
Because sometimes when you have all the facts, which we don't, what we think we may want, really isn't what we may need.
He is working for the people of this country. You watch too much TV.
Nope..He is doing what he and the administration knows is best for you....
The Majority of the people, you speak of, are Liberals that had to buy the votes to pass their doomed legislation.
It is because of George Bush and the Administration, that you are sitting safe and sound at home......Stop your whining and be thankful....we have had NO ATTACKS, since the war, Something must be working
We're finding out just who Bush really works for.
a good president does take in what the people want, however, they are suppose to be proactive, and be able to forsee what the people want down the road. This war is a good idea, we are safer because of it, and we will be safer in the future. Bush recognizes this and is acting in this way. The dems are just unhappy now, EVEN THOUGH THEY VOTED FOR THE WAR. Did America forget about 9/11?? What's wrong with you people.
