Will this work regarding about blocking websites?

I blocked websites using the notepad function (C://windows/system/drivers32/etc... something like that). And I was just wondering, instead of writing

E.G:

www.your-website-over-here.com will you be able to write it as your-webstie-over-here.com instead of writing the 'www.'? And is there an easier way block pornography and adult contents? without download anything from the internet? Will this work regarding about blocking websites?
Yes, you used the ';hosts'; file. I am familiar with it, it blocks most ads, web hijackers and adware. Also serves for personal blocking, as you tried yourself.

As much as i know, ';www.'; is required. ';http://'; isnt, but www it is. Tho i have never tried it without :P

Perhaps an alternative way ( not so effective as hosts, but it may save some work for you )...

1. Start / Control Panel

2. Internet Options

3. Security tab

4. Restricted sites

5. Sites

6. Type a name / click Add

Otherwise i dont think there is any better way :( Downloading some adult image blocker might be the best option... Those programs do what they are advertised to do... Some freeware : http://download.cnet.com/K9-Web-Protecti鈥?/a>

Browse on Download.com, you can find a lot of stuff there...

Hope it helped.

Regards
