I want to box dye my hair brown - but I have blond highlights - will this work?

I have had blond highlights for a few years, but I decided I want to go darker. I haven't box dyed my hair since I was in high school - but I can't afford to go to a salon for about a month. No, it won't ';ruin'; your hair. Will it look horrible? Probably, but that doesn't matter, for most people really don't care how they look.





You have two different kinds of hair -- or three -- and they all need to be handled differently when doing a darker colour. The bleached hair (the highlights) will absorb more colour and appear darker. Since they don't have much gold/red in them as do the rest of your hair, they may appear more greenish than the rest. Is that bad? It might blend in enough that no one will notice.





This is a complicated procedure and there are lots of variables and ';depends'; that you have to look out for. I can't explain it all here. The best bet is to have this done by a qualified professional hair colourist who has the skill and experience to do a proper job. They have all the products necessary, and will know what to watch for. It's not worth experimenting on yourself.
Never know, it might, but the highlights will show through because they are bleached.
