Ok so can u tell me how this works?

Simplify to a monomial or binomial.

9(x + y) + 2(x - y)Ok so can u tell me how this works?
Distribute

9x+9y + 2x-2y

Combine like terms

11x+7yOk so can u tell me how this works?
You're going to multiply the number outside the parentheses by the factors inside the parentheses making it 9x + 9y + 2x -2y. Then add/subtract together: 11x (because 9+2=11) + 7y (because 9-2=7).
9 times x plus 9 times y (9x + 9y)

2 times x minus 2 times y (2x - 2y)

+_______

11x + 7y

*remember that a negative plus a positive gets the sign of the higher number when you find the difference. so the ';y'; is positive in this case
9*x + 9*y + 2*x - 2*y

9x+9y+2x-2y

9y-2y=7y

9x+2x=11x

so the answer can be 11x+7y or 7y+11x. its the same thing.
