If it was my piano, I would ask a friend who has moved baby grands before and/or hire piano movers. Baby grands are heavy, awkward, and expensive. I wouldn't want to pay to fix the piano,should anything happen to it, much less have to replace it. Plus it's winter here and icy lol.





BTW it took three piano movers to move my upright up 1 1/2 flights of stairs. They had a special cart and wrapped it up well and it arrived in good condition.Moving a baby grande piano: Moving it from a storage unit onto a rental truck. Would this work?
NEVER move a grand with the legs on! Remove the legs, wrap so they don't get scratched....strap the piano to a piano board, move. Set up requires a ridgid box to support the piano while you re-install the legs. There is a nut with a swing clamp to undo/redo the legs. You will probably need a rubber mallet covered with heavy padding to whack the legs free and back into place. Remove the pedal stand also...you will see how all this is done if you take a look. Obviously, you will need two friends to help you move this piano.
When my Baby Grand was moved, they removed the legs and wrapped them separately and placed the upper potion into a special rack inside their truck to make sure it didn't move while in transit.





If you value the piano, get a professional mover. You're going to have to call a tuner to come tune it whether you do a god job or bad anyway, because all that movement WILL throw at least some keys out of tune.
hire someone who specializes in moving pianos. they have the proper slings and carts to do this. if you try moving it yourself you will ruin it. the biggest problem in moving a grand piano is when you flip it over. unless it is done properly you will snap the legs off.
